Arenal / La Fortuna

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Arenal is Arenal volcano, however this town has much more to offer. Arenal is one of Costa Rica’s most picturesque and accessible locations heavily frequented by tourists for its vibrant landscape. Due to the high tourist population in the area many of the locals have a good understanding of English meaning it is an ideal location for those still scrubbing up on their Spanish.

Despite its peaceful, small-town vibe the Arenal and La Fortuna area offers all of the everyday essentials that a resident could desire such as banks/pharmacies/medical clinics and grocery stores. After taking in the scenic views, you can also take a break at one of its range of restaurants offering up both traditional Costa Rican and international cuisines or one of the trendy cafes serving cups of authentic Costa Rican coffee.
